APOLEON

Film - 14min - 2024 - France - Egypt

A group of figurines from the Military Museum of Paris join Napoleon on his expedition to Egypt. Inspired by a visit to the museum in 2017, the film's narrative is centered around the deteriorating diorama of Napoleon and the Sphinx. As the figurines embark on their journey, they discover the broken nose of the Sphinx, leading to a surreal conversation between Napoleon and the monument.
by highlighting the contrast between the seriousness of the subject matter and the lightheartedness of the medium and through its blending of past and present, the film explores political issues related to militarism and colonization, challenging traditional historical narratives.
